CoP Facilitator Training

Please note: this session is for those who are getting started with facilitating a community of practice, or for those who are currently facilitating a community of practice and would like to learn more about facilitation.

This is a lively and interactive course where delegates will learn what a CoP is, the benefits for those involved, and to start them thinking about their role in running a successful community. This session includes a practical, hands-on experience in using the CoP collaboration platform, recommended ways to engage members and provides delegates to develop as a CoP facilitator from the purpose statement stage, providing them with the know-how to effectively run their CoP. This will enable them to plan their community’s life from launch to successful activity.

Objectives:

to explain the concept of a community of practice, both in its face-to-face and online forms
to define the roles and responsibilities within a community
to examine a community’s typical lifespan
to introduce techniques that support the successful running of a community
to raise awareness of your role and responsibility as a CoP facilitator
to demonstrate the features of the CoP collaboration platform: http://www.communities.idea.gov.uk
to provide practical, hands-on experience in using the CoP collaboration platform
to allow you to work through the CoP collaboration platform features with a coach on hand
to raise awareness of the roles and responsibilities of CoP facilitators
to identify the benefits for key stakeholders to assist your business case
to consider the importance of measuring success and impact of a community
to complete a community management plan to engage potential members
to introduce techniques that support your role and responsibilities as a CoP facilitator
